Welcome to my blog, it's only small at the moment, but I can assure you, I can see it getting somewhere. My blog is all about cosplay. What is cosplay? you ask, well, for those who don't know, I will explain further on. As for those who do, I hope you can sit back as you read my blog, and enjoy my cosplays and tutorials.

What is cosplay?

Cosplay, or "costume play"is an art where participants wear costumes and accessories to portray a specific character, typically from Anime, or video games, but can include book characters, and movie characters. Cosplay also extends into "costume role play", where participants can dress up and act as their selected character. It is common to also see genderbent character, with the most common genderbent characters being movie characters.

The growth of cosplaying has grown rapidly since the 90s, so much so, that there are dedicated cosplay conventions, or dedicated cosplay competitions at games conventions.
The most common cosplay event is the San Diego Comic Con, as well as the New York Comic Con, and the anime specific Anime North.

How do I get started?

The first thing you need after you've decided on your character, is a costume. Many costumes can be bought ready made online, as well as sold directly from conventions. Some companies and small businesses will also do commissions, where you can order custom made costumes, although these are more expensive than ready made, they tend to be better quality, and a better fit.

The final option for getting a costume is to make one yourself. In my opinion, this is the best way to obtain a costume, as as well as a wearable item, you also get experience to go along with it. You also have the option to personalize your outfit when you make it yourself.

The final step in getting started is looking around your area for local conventions to attend. With time, your skills will improve, and you will discover better ways to make things. Remember that cosplay is supposed to be fun, and every costume is unique. Also every costume is fantastic, the kid who spent all night making a cardboard costume is just as good as the guy who spent a year making his costume.
